Test Taking Tips Slideshow

created through Animoto

I created a slideshow that provide students with a statement that I believe is true. I wrote, “The most successful students use test taking tips before taking an exam.” I believe that this statement is true and students are more likely to perform better on exams if they practice these tips on the blog. This is just a reminder for students to recall test taking tips and apply them before the exam to see improvements.

Testing Tip Number 2

Make a Plan

A week or so before a test if not done by the teacher already. Students can asked their teacher to go over what criteria is going to be on the test and more specific questions depending on the subject including:

  • Can you use a calculator?
  • Chapters 1, 2, 3? All?
  • Is it information within the textbook?
  • Is it from information from class only? (group work)
  • Number of questions
  • Time limit ( if there is one)
  • Format- multiple choice, written, T/F

*All of these questions are important to know before taking a test. Knowing these factors reduces stress anxiety and allows students to perform better on their exam or assessment. Having this information allows students to study and not worry about how the test is going to be set up. Students should always be set up for success. There is no reason why a teacher should not include this information to students.*
